Elf on the Shelf
He’s only been in our house for two days, but it’s been a HOOT so far!! Now he’s not the “official” little guy- I headed to The General Store in Minnetonka (which if you’ve never been to and live in the Twin Cities you really should check it out- esp during the holiday- it’s awesome) intending to buy the offical little guy- but instead found this one- who’s really an ornament, but he was only $7 (compared to the real elf w/book for $30) He’s about 10″ tall and totally poseable- PERFECT! Plus I think he’s much cuter than the other one.
For those not familiar with the story- basically Santa send a scout elf, to hang out in the house and keep on eye on the kids to see if they are being “naughty or nice” and then every night- once they are asleep he returns to the North Pole to give Santa a report. Then the next morning he’s back- BUT in a totally different spot. So it’s a fun little hide-n-seek game. We told the kids that one of the rules from Santa is that they can’t touch the elf
It’s been a hoot so far- they randomly talk to him- tell him things and even fess up to things to him. They also think he’s really cute and want to know what he eats, what his name is, etc…. only grown ups can hear him, so Mark and I can report what he’s saying
So if you have any good elf names- let me know!

I’ve never heard that story, but it sounds like loads of fun!

I’ve been looking all over for the elf! I never even thought of the General Store. Guess I’ll be heading your way!

What a great thing to do with the kids at this time of the year. I would need to do something like this to with my kids. Now just to find an elf like that.

Our elf is named “Jingles,’ but I have a friend who’s son named his “Shelf-A-Lot.” I thought that was adorable!
