This session was one I was really really excited for…..as it combines three things I love. 1- Outdoor winter fun, 2- Photographing families at play, 3- a PUPPY! and an Aussie puppy no less. I love dogs. Like crazy love them. If you’ve ever had a session with me, and you have a dog- you’ve seen 1st hand how I just HAVE to talk to/pet/play with the dog, and most dogs love me. I’ve only met one so far who didn’t- and you know who you are- SHILOH!
When the mom contacted me for the session I was thrilled! I’m a firm believer that when you live in MN, you have to embrace the climate- which means playing in the snow! I love love LOVE photographing outdoor snow play- there’s just something about bright colors, red cheeks, and the bright white surroundings… love it! Some of my favorite photos of my own kids are in the winter playing outside.
I cannot express how much I wanted to steal Scout away. Isn’t he ADORABLE!?? He reminds me so much of my own Aussie at this age- except much, much smaller and shy. He was a little wary of me at first- but once he found out I had “cookies” in my pocket (i.e. Pupperoni) he decided I was okay

With his kids

What’s funnier than throwing snow on mom? I love everything about this photo…

One of my faves from the day:

Thanks G family for a wonderful afternoon- you are a great family- and I will never forgot the scene of watching the 4 of you try to catch the dog…..seriously so funny- I wish I had videotaped it

This sweet little peanut is baby boy #2 for my awesome friend Kim and was born on Valentines Day! I had the pleasure of photographing her 1st born only 2yrs ago- and it’s amazing how much the two boys look alike! Riley looks SO much like his big brother! He was only 5days old for the session and was a great little trooper for being so new in the world!

I love the little swirl of hair on the top of his head.

He preferred to have his hands up by his face- perhaps it’s how he spent his time inside

Once he fell asleep we had him model lots of hats for me- it was a hoot! There’s just something about fuzzy hats in the winter time that make me smile.

Thanks Kim and Bob- congrats again- he’s really just an adorable little guy!

Brother-Sister twins a mere 11days old. Photographing one newborn can be challenging, but twins is an extra fun challenge! These two were a hoot- already at less than 2wks old are affirming their differences. Brother likes to be all snuggled up nice and tight, Sister likes to sprawl out and especially prefers to have her legs and feet free to kick and stretch and not be cuddled up with her brother. It’ll be fun to see if as she gets older she continues to want her space from her brother like she did today
The Duo

I love how she has her arm around him

This past weekend I had the pleasure of heading up to Lake Superior with some fellow moms for some lovely R&R. The weather was great and the scenery just spectacular! I love nature photography but often forget to make the time to get out and do some……so it was a very soul satisfying weekend for me in that regards. Photos from Gooseberry Falls and Lake Superior just north of Two Harbors.
