Typically when a newborn is 2-3wks old they are awake and wiggly….or awake and only happy when held. This sweet little punkin was the calmest, most relaxed baby I’ve ever met! Such a sweetheart- if he fussed it was literally for all of 2seconds as he would melt in anyone’s arms and instantly fall back asleep. He’s definitely a very happy and content baby!
At the end of the session myself, his mom, his dad and even his grandma were trying to get him to wake up so we could get some shots of his gorgeous eyes, but he would have nothing to do with it! It was hysterical. Finally he did open his eyes for a few seconds
Up first- the one I know mom was excited to see:

It’s no secret that I love textiles in newborn photography….but ESPECIALLY when they belong to the family and have some personal meaning. When mom showed me this scarf she had set aside for the session I was instantly in love….I want one for myself now!

I just love sleeping babies like this…..it always makes me smile. This one is for my friend Nancy who wanted to know what I wanted this blanket for

I just love his little mouth here….

This was during the time when mom was trying to wake him up…it makes me smile as I just find it so incredibly sweet.

D & N it was so lovely to meet you and sweet baby M- he really is just the sweetest thing! I rarely get baby fever anymore, but oh he sure did get me thinking about it again!

Seriously…..the hair!! I feel like most newborns born in MN are bald, so it’s always a treat to get a yummy newborn with a full head of hair! Mr C. was two weeks old on the day of this session and was just the most perfect little client. He was happily awake, and then conked out for some fun sleepy photos as well.
It’s amazing how small they are….in his daddy’s hands….

I just LOVE his little smile in this one:

His beautiful eyes…

I always ask clients to set aside any special items they’d like to have photographed- and esp love any personal knit blankets, etc that we can use at the session. Mom brought this beautiful hand-knit blanket that grandmother made and I was so excited to use it for some photos. The rings were also something that mom wanted to capture- and I think is a cute way to remember how little his hands really were!

The whole gorgeous family:

M family is was so great to meet you- and I’m so thrilled to be able to photograph little C at 6m and again at a year!

This sweet little peanut is baby boy #2 for my awesome friend Kim and was born on Valentines Day! I had the pleasure of photographing her 1st born only 2yrs ago- and it’s amazing how much the two boys look alike! Riley looks SO much like his big brother! He was only 5days old for the session and was a great little trooper for being so new in the world!

I love the little swirl of hair on the top of his head.

He preferred to have his hands up by his face- perhaps it’s how he spent his time inside

Once he fell asleep we had him model lots of hats for me- it was a hoot! There’s just something about fuzzy hats in the winter time that make me smile.

Thanks Kim and Bob- congrats again- he’s really just an adorable little guy!

Brother-Sister twins a mere 11days old. Photographing one newborn can be challenging, but twins is an extra fun challenge! These two were a hoot- already at less than 2wks old are affirming their differences. Brother likes to be all snuggled up nice and tight, Sister likes to sprawl out and especially prefers to have her legs and feet free to kick and stretch and not be cuddled up with her brother. It’ll be fun to see if as she gets older she continues to want her space from her brother like she did today
The Duo

I love how she has her arm around him

Mr. A

Miss L

2 sets of adorable feet and toes

J & J thanks for allowing me to photograph your tiny sweet peas- they are so beautiful!

I love his hair so much I can hardly STAND it!! At 3wks of age Mr. J was a little older than most newborns I photograph. With this age you never know how they will be for a photo session, as they typically are less agreeable to being posed and moved around- but Mr. J was SUCH a little sweetheart he made my job easy-peasy. He’s so adorable I could have stared at him all day long!

I love knit blankets- and always bring some along- but this one his mom had pulled out for the session and it’s just PERFECT!! The knit is such a nice soft texture, and the colors are just perfect for his hair and skin.

I just love his mouth here…

Sigh…..

Seriously- how snuggly cute is he!!?

This might be my fave….something about his hair, and the way his little butt is up in the air- like it surely will be for years when he’s sleeping…..

“The Thinker”

Thanks M for letting me photograph your sweet little punkin- he was such a joy!
