Life Stories: The Story of … The Arboretum

The gist of the project, is myself along with some other photographers are doing a monthly photo project- of our OWN children.
A project to help us document things we want to remember, as before we know it they’ll be all grown!

I love the MN Landscape Arboretum. Love it. It always amazes me with it’s constant beauty and amazingly kept grounds….it’s really just an amazing place. Many of my clients have been there with me for sessions, as I always buy the yearly photography pass so I can hold sessions there. But it’s been YEARS since I’ve photographed my own kids there. So, this week on a lovely evening after dinner, we packed up the kids and headed out to see it in it’s spring glory. As always- it did not disappoint. We enjoyed the gorgeous flowering trees, spring annuals and perennials and even a few spring showers.

The trio singing to their brother. He LOVES music, and when they sing it makes him happy. Or in this case, sit still for 5 seconds.

He’s such a good big brother. And their personalities are so similar it’s eerie sometimes.

My big boys. Can you tell how much they love being photographed? Not at all. I love their mugs.

His eyes always draw me in… he is an amazing combo of high energy yet filled with serious (and endless) thoughts…

Oh I want to SQUEEZE him!!! In one of my favorite spots for toddlers…I call it “the toddler runway”

Her idea “I want to dance by the tulips” My sweet, sweet baby girl is growing up so fast….

He is pure sunshine. Seriously. He makes all our lives so much brighter.

Gorgeous Newborn Miss A

When A’s mom and dad brought her in to the studio and I saw her in her carseat I might have actually squealed. I LOVE baby’s with gorgeous full heads of hair!! And this little miss is gorgeous all over. Don’t you just want to eat her up?! I predict she’s also going to be a strong little girl- she has some serious muscles already- and SO alert. She didn’t want to miss a thing…and with adoring parents like hers, you can’t blame her for wanting to soak it all in!

I’ve been waiting to use this gorgeous color combo- and she had the perfect skin tones for it!

I just adore images of new parents and their babies…and these are two of my super favorites from their session…

….these almost give me a little baby fever… sigh… so sweet…

Little Corrina

When I heard this family was expecting again, I will admit that my heart skipped a little faster.
Partly because I think they are awesome and should have lots of kids, and also partly because I would get to photograph them again with a new love! This little sweet pea arrived a tad earlier than expected- I guess she figured out how awesome here mom, dad and big brother are, and couldn’t wait to meet them!

And she is one loved and adored little pea…

Life Stories: The Story of … The Boy’s Burger

The gist of the project, is myself along with some other photographers are doing a monthly photo project- of our OWN children.
A project to help us document the little things we want to remember.

In our house, once a month, one of the kids is responsible for a dinner. From beginning to end, so choosing the recipe, making the shopping list, getting ingredients, all the food prepping and of course, actually COOKING the dinner.
It’s quite the process- but they LOVE it. This month, it was the oldest’s turn. He decided to create his own burger recipe. Now, his dad is notorious for making stuffed burgers. So of course, like father like son!

He calls it “The Booper Burger”
A hamburger stuffed with salami, cheese, pickles and bacon.
Grilled, then topped with raw onion, tomato, lettuce, and more of the inside toppings too.

First up- the prep:

All ingredients have been chopped and sliced!

Next up- the burger press. Yes, we own a burger press.

Now, assembling the insides! Then topped with the other 1/2 patty.

Then- heading outside (in the dark) to grill the burgers!

The finished meal. Have to admit- his burgers were really good!!

Oh how I just LOVE maternity sessions followed up by the sweet sweet newborns.
I have a particular fondness for mother and child images, but in belly-to-baby sessions I think they make for a PEFECT series.
I so love these two images, and together, there’s just something even more powerful about them..

This lucky little lady has two adoring siblings at home, to give her even more love!

Adorable August- 9 Months of Cuteness!

Oh how I love when baby planners come in for their next session! I always get a little excited to see how much they’ve grown and changed. Last time he was in the studio, he looked quite a bit different- but he still has those amazing big brown eyes!!

I so love this first image- so typical of this 9 month milestone when they can crawl and look so proud!
It’s just the cutest stage!
Don’t you just want to eat him up??

Sweet Isaiah is TWO!

I so love seeing familiar faces come into the studio! I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this little guy since he was in his mommy’s tummy! Now he’s two, and his momma has a new little one coming soon. He’s going to be a fabulous big brother- he’s so sweet and kind. Don’t those eyes just make you melt??

Can’t wait to meet the new love bug in a few weeks!
