Month 8 of my Life Stories Project. Life Stories Project? See MONTH 1 for the full story.
The gist of the project, is myself along with some fellow photographers have created a monthly photo project- of our OWN children.
Our goal is to document the little things we want to remember, as childhood is so fleeting.
So….you may not know this about me, but I am a fan of shaggy hair on boys. I just love shaggy hair, tousled hair, messy hair…
I think it’s just such a sweet, whimsical part of childhood. Now, many of my ahem, extended family members have been asking for a LONG time now “When are you going to cut the baby’s hair??”
While I do really like shaggy hair, I will admit that my main reluctance and postponing of this big event, is that I was just not really ready for it….I am not ready for my “baby” to stop looking like a baby. As I KNEW once we cut his hair, it would be another chapter closing. But, with summer here, and the heat, the time had come.
So I did ONE last little photoshoot to document his hair.
I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this image. I’ve already ordered it as a canvas for my wall!

Okay- so the time had come, and off to Kids Hair we went. First we waited till it was out turn. Yes his hair was long…

Then- the inevitable first cut…..you can really see how much they chopped!

His siblings looked on…

Bye-bye-baby-hair

The hair dryer was traumatic- thank goodness for his sister who sang him a song

All done!! Sucker in mouth and headed right to the door…

BEFORE and AFTER

What a handsome little man, love his little pout faces!
What a doll!! I love the before and after shots…he’s happy as happy can be in both! <3

First haircuts are such a big deal. He looks adorable! LOVE that first image and OMG, his big sister singing him a song? WAY too sweet.
Oh – that pouty face gets me right in the heart. Glad sissy was there for him. He looks so handsome!
He looks so grown up now! I’m hanging on as long as I can until I have to cut my kids hair – I know the feeling!
Such a difference! He is handsome with or without his hair.
Oh my goodness, he is a doll! His little pout, the end of an era… it brought tears to my eyes. He looks like such a big boy now! I love that you documented this. Wonderful!
